Peace & Serenity…

Mckarn’s Lake, Ohio

September 26, 2019

Lately I have been dealing with a lot of crap. It makes me super stressed out, and quite frankly I have bad anxiety from it. Instead of staying in that state of mind, I have found myself spending a lot of my free time outside in nature. Mckarn’s Lake has become one of the places I stop a lot of the time. I often find myself sitting at the end of the dock enjoying the peace and solitude. It is so peaceful and serene. I wish I could just stay there in that moment. There is nothing more beautiful and spiritual than spending time in nature. It is divine. So next time you are feeling anxious or stressed, take a moment to sit outside. Breathe in the fresh air. It’s very healing, and you will come out it with some peace of mind.

Lindenwood Nature Preserve in Fort Wayne, Indiana

September 21, 2019

I had the pleasure of attending this program called Feather Fest at Lindenwood Nature Preserve recently. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a strong love for owls. They are so beautiful! To see all these owls up close and personal was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever experienced. The owls were all rescued by Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center. They are an organization that specializes in the rescue, recovery and release of injured and orphaned birds of prey. They do educational programs at schools, nature centers, parks, etc. They are an amazing organization that I plan on volunteering at in the near future.

Tom and Jane Dustin Preserve…

On September 17, 2019 I remember jumping in my car to start the day. What started off as a day to make some money turned into something way more. You see I was feeling very spiritual, and so instead of just driving people around, I decided to find some where to hike. Grabbing my cellphone, I said “Hey google, Find me a nature preserve nearby.” It brought up a nice list of places to go. I was in Indiana at the time near the city of Auburn. One place in particular stood out so I put it in my GPS and off I went.

Let me tell you, when I arrived I immediately knew I was meant to be there. First I decided to check out the building. It was beautiful both inside and out. It turns out it’s the office for Acres Landtrust. They are a non-profit that preserves and protects natural areas in NE Indiana, NW Ohio, and S Michigan. Such a great mission! The staff inside was very friendly and helpful. I plan to apply to be a volunteer in the near future.

After checking out the building, I headed out to hike with my camera. I was mesmerized by all the natural beauty surrounding me. It is very hard to describe what I was feeling while out here. It was a very spiritual moment for me. It was exhilarating and beautiful. I hope you feel some of what I felt as you view these images. It was truly spiritual and beautiful!

Broken…

Broken

Tell me why life is so chaotic,
Tell me why I should live,
Nothing ever goes right,
I’m broken with nothing left to give.
Inside my heart is broken,
Inside my spirit cries,
I feel so all alone,
In the darkness where I lie.

Everything is broken,
Everything is gone,
I don’t know what to do,
Don’t know if I can go on.
Why is my life so crazy?
Why is my life a mess?
I’m so torn apart inside,
Always feeling so much distress…

Apologies…

I know I haven’t been around in a long time. It was not my intention to disappear. You see my house was broken into awhile back. I lost basically everything including my Nikon D7100, the main camera I used, and my computer containing all my images. That was a hard blow… To have everything I worked so hard for just gone in an instant. I have major anxiety now because of it. But I digress… The point is for some reason they only stole that camera. I still have my old film cameras. I finally decided about a month ago to break the film camera back out. And I realized that while digital is great, my true passion is film. It’s exciting to take a roll of film and develop it. I missed the anticipation of wondering how the photo will actually turn out. So in a way, I guess it has reawakened my passion. I can’t wait to share some of the prints with you all. Here’s to a whole new adventure…

A Mystical Land…

Title: A Mystical Land…

Baintertown Dam, Indiana

September 14, 2019

Last night I came across this beautiful place while out driving people around. For me, this image has a mystical quality to it. It makes me think of all the fantasy books I get so into. It definitely has a fantastical feel to it. I can see myself wandering back into those woods encountering an ent, an elf, or maybe even a druid. And we all know that would lead to an epic adventure. I wonder where it would take us…
